PANCHKULA: Police have arrested two men and a woman after 33 grams of heroin worth Rs 1 lakh was recovered from them near Herbal Park, Sector 26.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Aashif, a resident of Raipur Khurd, Chandigarh; Ravi Rajput, a resident of Gill Colony, Baltana; and Aanchal Chadha, a resident of Sector 4, Panchkula.

Crime branch officials said they used to bring the drug from Delhi and sell it in Panchkula.

Police said a team started patrolling in Sector 26 after receiving a tip-off. Cops noticed that the three started walking faster and in the opposite direction after spotting them. When cops stopped them for checking, the three refused them permission on the plea that they required a search warrant. The patrolling team called assistant commissioner of police (ACP Crime) Vijay Deshwal and women police station SHO inspector Sunita to the spot and explained the rule under NDPS Act which allowed them to check suspicious persons for drugs.

Cops found 11.55 grams of heroin from Ashif, 17 grams from Ravi and 5.65 grams from Aanchal.
