Amit Shah likely to visit Chhattisgarh on Aug 24

Bharatiya Janata Party National president Amit Shah, who was expected to visit the state on August 22, is now coming on August 24. His tour to the state was postponed due to national mourning of seven days after the demise of Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The new date of his visit was confirmed by the Chief Minister Raman Singh at a high level meeting held here at state BJP office Ekatma Parisar on Sunday evening.

Notable, Shah was expected to visit the state capital on August 22 and a series of programmes were chalked out for the same. He was going to inaugurate new auditorium at state party office Kusha Bhau Thakre premises and was also going to address a gathering of In charges of ‘Shakti Kendras’ there.

Shah during his visit was also expected to take meetings of state executive body, MPs, legislators, Civic Bodies office bearers and senior leaders.

Highly placed party sources informed that during the visit Shah will take meeting of state executive body members to chalk out strategy for the upcoming elections. A strategy would now be changed after the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The party would try to encash it as he is termed as an architect of the formation of separate state of Chhattisgarh from the erstwhile undivided Madhya Pradesh, sources said.

In the meeting the Chief Minister also apprised that the Vikas Yatra have been be postponed and would now be taken out from September 5. It is likely that the National Chief Amit Shah would flag off the Yatra and would initiate the poll campaign of the party, sources said.
