A fake website with Beti Padhao logo is duping people posing as a government-backed saving scheme, warned an with the Women and Child Development today.

Advising the people to not fall prey to such fraud, the women and child development ministry has issued a circular stating the ministry does not host the portal and it has not published any kind of form or information on the website.

Allegedly, the fake website was charging Rs 200 per registration. A case of cheating under relevant sections of the IT Act was registered. The accused has been identified and we are on the lookout for him, the police said.

The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana programme was launched in January 2015 for the welfare of girl children under the Beti Padhao programme.
