Mumbai: Real estate broker files complaint against Kangana Ranaut for not paying brokerage

Mumbai: The Khar police have served summons on Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut after a real estate broker filed a complaint against Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel alleging that payment of brokerage on her Pali Hill bungalow is still pending.

Refuting the broker’s allegation, Ranaut said the deal was for one percent brokerage and the dues have been cleared. According to sources, the actress had bought a bungalow with a total area of 3,075 square feet worth Rs 20.07 crore in the plush Pali Hill area via a broker, Prakash Rohira, last year. A statement given by the actress’ team claims Ranuat had paid him a brokerage of Rs 22 lakh as per the industry standard of one percent

brokerage. The statement also claims that the broker is only looking for ways to harass the actress and extract an additional 22 lakhs from her, which was unethical and wrong. Sanjay More, senior police inspector of Khar police station, said, “We have registered a complaint and summoned the actress. We will soon verify the claims of the complainant, and check the receipts and paper trail, following which appropriate action will be taken.”

The actress said in a statement released to the press, “My finance team never dealt with him directly but now he is harassing us for Rs 22 lakhs more, he is claiming two percent of the transaction made from my end… which was never promised to him before or after the deal… So, this does not make sense and we have made it clear to the cops as well. We have all the evidence.” The broker, however, told the police he was sure of his case and will be furnishing all proof in due time.
