Images of Dublin were beamed in to the homes of around 1.16 million people across Australia over the weekend, when an episode of a popular TV show, The Garden Gurus, aired on Channel Nine.

The Garden Gurus is an Australian lifestyle gardening TV series and the show’s presenter Trevor Cochrane travelled here earlier this summer, to film at Bord Bia’s annual Bloom festival. He was here as a guest of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland. The resulting 30-minute Ireland special aired on Saturday, 18 August. To view a trailer for the episode, click here.

Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said: “We’re delighted that The Garden Gurus chose to come and film Ireland’s premier garden festival. It’s an excellent way to shine a spotlight on Dublin and Ireland, including our wonderful gardens, as well as some of the many other things to see and do on holiday here.”

Gardens Guru presenter Trevor Cochrane said: “It was our seventh visit to Ireland in the past decade and, again, the weather was magnificent. This year’s Bloom was the best I’ve seen and I rank it in the top three garden shows in the world currently. The designer gardens were outstanding.”

In 2017, we welcomed around 208,000 visitors from Australia and New Zealand to Ireland. Tourism Ireland has an extensive programme of promotions under way again this year, to build on that success and continue to grow that number.
