TIRUPUR: Around 60 transsexual people in Tirupur have contributed their bit to help the flood affected people in Kerala. On Monday, they handed over food and other required items, worth Rs 30,000, to district social welfare officer I Poongothai.
Poongothai said the transsexual people had contributed items like wheat flour, oil and biscuits, sanitary napkins. “These items will be sent to Kerala along with the materials contributed by the Tirupur district administration,” she said.

Most of the transsexual people made a living by begging, Divya of Tamil Nadu Periaveedu Kootamaippu told TOI. “We can understand the grief of the people in the neighbouring state who have been affected by floods. We wanted to help them,” she said.
