2018-08-20 13:33

Cape Town - Kevin Anderson has moved back into the top five of the official ATP rankings.

The South African reached the last 16 of last week’s Cincinnati Masters, where he was beaten 6-2, 6-4 by Belgium’s David Goffin.

He however earned enough points to jump one spot to No 5 on the rankings.

Anderson is in sixth spot in the race to London for the year-end top 8 player ATP World Tour Finals.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s second-highest male singles player, Lloyd Harris, remains stable (No 145) on the world rankings after his quarter-final berth at the Vancouver Challenger in Canada last week. Harris lost to top seed Vasek Pospisil of Canada in three close sets in the last eight.

Raven Klaasen is back into the world’s top 20 after moving up two spots on the world doubles rankings to No 19 and remains the country’s highest ranked doubles player. Klaasen and his doubles partner Michael Venus of New Zealand are ranked sixth in the race to London.

On the women’s side, Chanel Simmonds remains the highest ranked South African singles (No 340) and doubles (No 236) player.
