New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
“Tributes to our former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji on his birth anniversary,” Mr Modi tweeted. “We remember his efforts towards the nation”, Prime Minister further wrote.
Born on August 20, 1944, Rajiv Gandhi was killed LTTE suicide bombers on May 21, 1991. After taking over Prime Ministership at the age of 40, Rajiv Gandhi served as the 7th Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989.
Congress President and Late Rajiv Gandhi’s son Rahul Gandhi also tweeted saying: “Rajiv Gandhi was a kind, gentle and affectionate man whose untimely death left a deep void in my life. I remember the times we had together and the many birthdays we were lucky to celebrate with him when he was alive. He is greatly missed, but his memory lives on”.
