A 21-year-old Bangladeshi national was admitted to Sion Hospital’s ICU with head injuries sustained when he tried to alight from a moving train at Dadar station on Saturday.
CCTV footage at Dadar station showed Hameed Jeval attempting to alight from the moving train around 7.18 p.m., and almost falling into the gap between the train and the platform. Three railway police personnel on duty pulled Mr. Jeval to safety in the nick of time.
Senior PI Prasad Pandrey, Dadar Government Railway Police, said, “On Saturday night, Mr. Jeval tried to jump before the train could stop at Dadar station, probably under the assumption that the train was not going to halt. This is a common problem among people who have never been on a Mumbai local. Luckily, the police were there to save him, else it could have been fatal.”
He added, “He has a valid visa and all other necessary documentation and visa. We are trying to get in touch with his family in Bangladesh through concerned officials in Kolkata. We will be recording his statement when he regains consciousness.”
