CPI(M), BLF, AIDWA, DYFI stage demonstration in protest

Activists owing allegiance to the frontal organisations of the CPI (M) and the constituent organisations of the Bahujan Left Front (BLF) staged a demonstration here on Monday protesting against alleged middlemen menace at the Rythu Bazar at Yellandu cross roads in the town.

Members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) among others took part in the stir.

The protesters, led by the CPI (M) State committee member B. Sarala and AIDWA district secretary M. Bharathi staged a demonstration in front of the Rythu Bazar by displaying banners demanding urgent steps to weed out the “middlemen menace.”

Addressing the demonstrators, the leaders of various organisations alleged that unscrupulous elements were ruling the roost at the Rythu Bazar in connivance with an official concerned at the cost of farmers and consumers.

They sought stringent action against those harassing farmers selling their vegetables on pushcarts and also appropriate steps to streamline the functioning of the Rythu Bazar.

Later, the demonstrators took out a rally and submitted a memorandum to the authorities at the Collectorate.
