Zero Mile Porsche 962 Gets Driven For The First Time In Its Life By Jay Leno

Some cars are more special than the others and the same applies to the Porsche Schuppan 962CR, which paid a visit to Jay Leno’s Garage.

The racecar was converted for road use by Vern Schuppan with Porsche’s official blessing, leading to the production of six cars, including the first prototype. Out of the six, chassis #06 is thought to be the only one currently in the US and had zero miles on it, up until it visited Jay Leno.

Matthew Ivanhoe, the owner of this particular Porsche 962CR, not only brought the car into the world’s most notorious man cave but also let Leno drive it for the first time in its life.

When Schuppan went bankrupt, one of the company’s creditors took this black example into his possession to protect his investment, but never drove it. The car was recommissioned once it came in the U.S.

Power comes from a twin-turbo, water-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine that depending on boost pressure produced  anything between 550hp to 800hp. Schuppan claimed back in the day a 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 230mph (370km/h).

Cars like the Porsche Schuppan 962CR are true legends and one of the very few times you can accurately say it’s a race car with number plates.
