Ujjain: Municipal commissioner takes stock of cleanliness


Ujjain: Municipal commissioner visited Ramghat, Narsingghat and Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple areas on Sunday and took stock of cleanliness. She also visited remote areas of the city falling under ward number 40, 41 and 43.

The commissioner instructed officials concerned to get chocked drains cleared in Ramghat and other areas. She also asked officers to increase number of dustbins in ghat area and ordered removal of unauthorized cart vendors from Mahakal and other crowded areas of the city. Pal also visited Panwasa, Bajrang Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar and Vallabh Nagar and inquired with residents about their problems.

UMC officials said that following her order illegal encroachment and kiosks were removed from Mahakal area. During the visit, health officer BS Mehte, zonal officer Anil Jain, deputy engineer Sanjay Khujneri and other officials concerned were also present.


UMC gets tough on property tax evaders

Ujjain Municipal Corporation is gearing up for action against big property tax defaulters. Municipal Commissioner Pratibha Pal has asked officials to recover tax dues and attach properties of those who fail to comply. The municipal commissioner also warned tax evaders, against whom a notice has already been issued, to deposit the tax within 24 hours or be ready to face legal action and attachment of their properties.
