Gomez recently delivered a speech where she talked about her life-saving kidney transplant operation.

In May 2017, the 26-year-old had undergone a procedure, for which her best friend donated her own kidney.

The had hosted WE Day, an annual gathering from the non-profit organisation which aims to unite youth in order to create a better world in April this year.

Recently, a video from the event was shared by the organisation on its official handle.

Gomez was present along with Nellie Mainor, an eight-year-old survivor who was once diagnosed with a rare kidney disease.

The singer lauded Mainor for her efforts in spreading awareness about the disease, while also opening up about her health struggles.

"You are focusing on making the world a more hopeful place and you encourage me and all of my friends to do the same. As maybe some of you know, I had a kidney transplant this year and so many people from across the country reached out and they offered their support," she said.

"And others told me how hearing my story helped them find their own courage and helped other people want to get involved and donate. They reminded me how lucky I am to have a platform where I can share with you guys and I can pay the love forward," she added.
