As many as 1,337 graduates, including 20 gold medallists and other Ph.D. scholars received their certificates at the convocation held at VIT University’s Chennai campus on Saturday.
The chief guest, former judge of Madras High Court, K. Gnanaprakasam, said the function of any university was not just to produce technically skilled people, but also to instil in them concern for the needy. Increasing government expenditure on higher education will pave the way for strengthening democracy. It will ensure that the fruits of economic growth reached all sections, said founder and Chancellor of VIT University, G. Viswanathan.
Raja Ukil, senior vice-president and chief information officer and process transformation leader at Wipro Technologies, Vice-Chancellor of VIT University, Anand A Samuel, vice-presidents, Sankar Viswanathan, Sekar Viswanathan and G.V. Selvam, assistant vice-president Kadhambari S. Viswanathan and pro-vice-chancellor of VIT, Chennai campus, N. Sambanadam were present.
