Man and dog rescued down embankment in Brindabellas
A dramatic search in the dark, snowy forests of the Brindabellas ended with the rescue of a man and his dog on Saturday night.
The ACT Emergency Services Agency said a man in his 20s was exploring the icy region when his car slid down an embankment.
He was able to get out of the trapped car and call for help about 10pm.
Emergency crews talked the man through pinpointing his location using his mobile phone before using lights and sirens to narrow in.
Both the man and his dog were retrieved from Two Sticks Road uninjured.

On Sunday, an ESA spokeswoman urged the public to download the Emergency + app, which harnesses a phone's GPS to help emergency services hone in on a caller's location.
