Vajpayee’s memorials to be built in Bhopal, Gwalior

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the State Government has taken several decisions to keep the memories of former Prime Minister Late Atal Behari Vajpayee alive.

Memorials will be built in Bhopal and Gwalior in the memory of Late Atalji. The school in Gorkhi, Gwalior, from where Late Vajpayee pursued his education from Class VI to VIII will be developed as a top quality education centre. A smart class, planetarium and museum besides Late Atalji’s statue will be set up here.

While talking to media persons here on Saturday, Chouhan said that Smruti Van (Remembrance Park) will be established in the memory of Late Atalji in Bhopal and Gwalior in which besides Atalji’s statue, his works will be presented in a better way to inspire future generation. The global skill park being constructed in Bhopal at a cost of Rs 600 crore will be named after Late Atalji.

World class libraries will be established after Late Atalji in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Sagar and Satna, being developed as smart cities in the state. These libraries will be developed in the form of Centres of Excellence as centres of coaching, research and social thought for the youth. Similarly the incubation centres will also be named after Late Atalji in the 7 smart cities. Facilities to establish startups will be provided to the youths of Madhya Pradesh at these centres.

Chouhan informed that Late Atalji’s life story will be included in the school syllabus from next year. Three national awards will be set up on Late Atalji’s name. These awards of Rs 5 lakh each will be given for best work in poetry, journalism and good governance. The four Shramoday Vidyalayas being constructed for the children of labourers in the state will also be named after Late Atalji. The Medical College coming up in Vidisha will also be named after him. Union Rail Minister will be urged to approve naming of the state-of-the-art Habibganj Railway Station of Bhopal also after the leader.

He said that a condolence meet will be organised in the open at Ravindra Bhavan, Bhopal on August 21 so that people from all sections of the society can take part in the meet. Condolence meetings will be organised at all the district headquarters from August 22 to 25 and in all development blocks and gram panchayats between August 25 and 30. Late Atalji’s ashes will be immersed in all prominent rivers of the state including The Narmada.
