The BJP president Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath and many other saffron leaders would be present when the ashes of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be immersed in the holy Ganga in Haridwar  at 11 am on Sunday.   Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Ministers and the State BJP chief Ajay Bhatt would also be present on the occasion. The ashes would be immersed in the Ganga at Har Ki Paidi by the relations of the former PM.

The State administration now gearing up for the programme, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat headed straight to Haridwar on Saturday after he landed at the Dehradun airport from Delhi after attending the funeral of the late ex-PM. In Haridwar, the CM inspected Har Ki Paidi and held detailed discussion with the administration officers on the ash immersion programme.

CM had another meeting with the district level officers at Dam Kothi where he directed them to ensure that all preparation for the programme are done much before the ash immersion ritual starts. The CM also held discussions with the people’s representatives and the members of Ganga Sabha about the programme.

Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik, District Magistrate of Haridwar Deepak Rawat and other senior officers of the police and the administration were present during the meetings.

The ash immersion of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the Ganga in Haridwar is very appropriate in view of the departed leader’s deep love for Uttarakhand, say observers. Aside from being the creator of the Himalayan State, late Vajpayee was known to have a deep emotional and spiritual bond with the Ganga and the hills here, says an observer.
