TRICHY: A 50-year-old man was arrested in Trichy on Saturday for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy.
Police said Baba Sakthivel of Palakkarai sexually assaulted the Class II boy on August 7 when the latter was playing in front of his house. He took the boy to his house and sexually assaulted him.

Sakthivel threatened the boy with dire consequences if he told his parents about the incident.

Again, on August 17, when the boy was playing in front of his house, Sakthivel approached him and asked him to follow him to his house. The boy started crying and ran into his house. He told his father about all what had happened.

The next day, the boy’s father filed a complaint with the Fort all-woman police. The police registered a case against the accused under different sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code.

The police conducted investigations and arrested Sakthivel. He was remanded in judicial custody.

The boy was sent to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for medical inspection.
