Roy inspects repairing of pump house at Mango, water supply resumes

State food and civil supplies minister, Saryu Roy, also the local legislator inspected the pump house this afternoon at Mango nland supervised the repairing work carried out by the local civic body. Roy directed them to ensure that normal water supply resumes as early as possible.

Water supply which was affected since Friday at Mango resumed this afternoon

after the local urban body-Mango Notified Are Committee ( MNAC) carried out necessary repairing work at the pump house. 

Water supply was  affected in Mango since Friday morning after a sluice valve at the pump house near Yeshu Bhawan got damaged. The Mango water treatment plant supplies water to around 21,000-odd households. About 40 minutes supply is done daily.

Several tankers were pressed into service for supply water in different localities of Mango since Friday afternoon.

Due to  the broken sluice valve at the pump house  water could not be pumped to the filteration plant since yesterday.

MNAC special officer Rajendra Prasad Gupta confirmed that the water supply resumed.

“ We took the job on urgent basis and he water supply resumed this afternoon after the completion of the necessary repair work of the sluice valve. But, we will continue to supply water through water tankers today,” said Gupta.

Sources in MNAC said  this was for the first time  such a mishappening took place at the pump house affecting water supply in Mango, which has a population of over 2 lakh.
