Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2018 (TNEA) secretary Dr V Rhymend Uthariaraj said a total of 1, 06,120 eligible candidates were called for online counselling this academic year, which commenced on July 25. However, at the end of the final round only 78,285 candidates participated in the online counselling and after scrutiny, tentative allotment was given to 77,377 candidates.

According to the statistics given by TNEA, a total of 21, 922 students participated and 21,647 students received their allotment letters during the final round of counselling that ended on Saturday.

A senior official from Anna University said that computer science and electronics and communication engineering were the most sought after courses by the students.

 

During the online counselling process, the applicants have been grouped based on merit list into multiple rounds.  Each group of applicants were allowed into counselling system round wise. The seats were allocated tentatively based on the merit list and order of preference of choices provided by the applicants. The applicants can see the tentative allotment details in their respective login itself.

TNEA secretary also said that the registration of online applications for supplementary counselling will end on August 20.

 

The dates for original certificates verification and supplementary counselling which will be conducted at the Centre for Entrance Examinations and Admissions, Anna University in Chennai will be informed later through SMS to the registered mobile number. Along with this, the e-call letter can be download by the candidate from the TNEA portal. The applicants must appear in-person for the certificate verification following which they can participate in this counselling.

The final round of engineering counselling should have been over on Friday. However, since the state government declared a holiday on Friday as a mark of respect to late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the counselling was extended by a day.
