8 criminals involved in dozen crimes arrested in Dumka

Police have arrested eight persons in connection with a dozen loot incidents that took place in Dumka, Pakur and Godda districts in the recent past. A semi-automatic pistol and country made pistol, a double barrel gun, a carbine and several cartridges have been recovered from them.

The arrested persons are were identified as Rahul Mandal, Sunder Tudu, Prince Murmu, Sagar Hembram, Dashrath Tudu, Sanatan Madaiyya, Sanjay Soren and Santosh Soren.

Dumka SP Kishore Kaushal said that in the recent days criminals had looted cash and laptops from agents of micro-finance companies in a series of incidents that took place in Ramgarh, Hansdih, Jama, Malda and Jarmundi police station areas. A police team comprising technical experts and officials were formed under the DSP Dumka to solve the crimes.

Acting on a tip off regarding a group of armed criminal planning to commit crime in the Shikaripara Police Station area, the police team conducted a raid to arrest all seven accused persons from a lonely spot.

The SP said, “We arrested the eighth accused on basis of the statement made by the arrested persons.  We have solved about a dozen cases that took place in Dumka and the neighbouring districts. The criminals have also confessed that they used to extort money from the owners of the stone crushers in the names left wing extremist”.

The SP said Rahul Mandal is the kingpin of the gang and used to track the movement of the micro finance agents and plan out the crime. Sanatan Madaiyya has served 13 years in jail for killing a police officer while committing loot. He had beaten the police officer was beaten to death when he objected to the crime.

The accused have confessed of committing at least 12 crimes in 10 police station areas of region including Hansdih, Ramgarh, Littipada, Amdapada and Maheshpur.
