New Smart Phone given to beneficiary after phone defect

Janjgir-Champa district administration handed over a new smart phone to Champa ward number 10 resident Jumratan Ghaffar Khan after information regarding the suspicious blast of phone provided under SKY scheme was reported.

Team of district administration and Micromax technical team inspected the phone of beneficiary, in which it was found that burning of cover was found and battery was found swelled. For detailed checking of mobile phone, battery and charger has been sent to lab. CHiPS officers had started that new phone has been provided to beneficiary.

Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) officers assured that the smart phones distributed under SKY are fully secure. It has been tested for international standard in autonomous institutions recognised by Government of India. Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had conducted testing and certification of all components before distribution. The phone battery is certified by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The technical officers said that if the mobile phone is overcharged, charging by sub-standard and wrong charger, lack of earthing, moisture around battery, or mobile coming in contact with water can create such a situation.

CHiPS officials said that till date around 3 lakh smart phones has been distributed in state under SKY but no issue of quality has emerged and complain received. In the country around 30 lakh phones have been sold and no complaints of any type have been received. The smart phone components have been certified under Restriction of hazardous Substances (RoHS) before distribution. Additional to it the smart phone manufacturing company before its manufacture conducts ‘Device Qualification Test’ and after production, ‘Production Line Testing’ is undertaken.
