Congress revokes suspension of Mani Shankar Aiyar over ‘neech aadmi’ remark against PM Modi

An official notification, issued by party general secretary Ashok Gehlot said, “Congress President has approved the recommendation of the Central Disciplinary Committee of AICC for revocation of suspension of Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar from the Primary Membership of the Congress party with immediate effect.”

Aiyar was suspended during the Gujarat polls when he referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘neech kisam ka aadmi’, a lowly person, in response to Modi’s speech blaming Congress for undermining BR Ambedkar’s contribution.

Gandhi had tweeted then he didn’t appreciate Aiyar’s remark and expected him to apologise. He was subsequently served a notice and later suspended.
