Gurudwara body buys new machines to print more Guru Granth Sahibs

Replacing the twenty years old two colour printing Press, the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSMGC) is going to set up “ultra modern” fully computerised four colour offset printing Presses to print large number of copies of Sikh Holy scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib at the national Capital's Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib Complex. The committee has purchased a new machine almost after two decades.

Siromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committtee (SGPC)Amritsar and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management committee e(DSGMC) are the  two committees in the world that have the legal rights for the publication of the authentic version of the holy scripture Guru Granth Sahib including Gurmat literature, (philosophy of the Gurus) worldwide.

“The printing press has been purchased almost after 20 years. The use of ultra modern machines will save time, reduce production cost and most significantly improve the quality. The SGPC and DSGMC is the world's largest publisher of authentic Sikh religious books and literature. The books get published in Punjab and Delhi only. The new printing press will have good capacity of printing fifteen thousand as compared to the old one. With the new printing machine we hope will meet the thousands of devotees request for the holy book,” said Manjit Singh GK, President DSGMC.

The new machine that costs around Rs eight crore is equipped with the latest printing technologies. “The Sikh holy scripture have the code of conduct for the Sikh Community like rituals of marriage, birth and death that are followed by the Sikhs worldwide,” added Singh.

The 1,430-page manuscript will have holy verses of Sikh Gurus and 30 other saints like Kabir, Ravidas and Namdev will be printed and delivered to devotees living across the world. The new golden offset printing press will be set up at newly constructed Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj complex.
