Kalyan’s tantrik baba arrested for molesting 10-year-old girl

Thane: The Kalyan Khadakpada police on Thursday arrested a 80-year-old tantric baba for molesting a 10-year-old girl. The accused touched her inappropriately on the pretext of giving black magic locket (taviz) to her. The police identified the accused as Yunus Abbas Sayyed alias Baba, a resident of Ambivli in Kalyan. He claimed to have cured people by his black magic acts who would reach out to him for seeking help in their distressed lives.

The police said, the girl and her younger brother would not sleep properly at night, as they would suffer from nightmares. It was suggested to them to visit the baba for a solution. First, the parents took their son to this baba to get the tavizes for both their children. At that time, the victim could not accompany them as she had gone to her school. However, the baba told the victim’s parents to send both the children alone, so that he could test them physically.

Later, the girl went to the baba’s house in the afternoon with her brother.

Assistant Police Inspector VS Pawar said, “On the day of the incident, the victim along with her younger brother went to the baba’s house, which is situated nearby the masjid in Ambivli. The baba forced the young boy to stay outside the house and took the girl in with him. Once the girl was alone with him, he touched her inappropriately.”

On the way back to their home, the victim shared this incident with her minor brother. The boy then went informed their parents about the incident. Horrified at the incident, the parents went to the Khadakpada police station and lodged a First Information Report.

“After booked a complaint by the victim, we arrested him from his resident, said an officer. A case was registered under molestation (section 354) of Indian Penal Code and under the relevant sections of the Prevention Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) were also invoked against the accused.

  He was produced before a court and sent  to Magistrate Court custody.
