Girl burnt to death by BF in Sundargarh

An 18-year-old girl was allegedly set on fire by her boyfriend and his family members as she insisted on marrying him in Bondamunda Sector-B area in Sundargarh district during the wee hours of Friday.

The Bondamunda police have detained father and mother of the girl’s boyfriend. The youth was absconding.

According to sources, one Asha  Nayak(18), a  Plus Two student, resides with  her  parents  in Sector-A of Bondamunda. Asha was in love with Amit Yadav of the Sector-B area for the last two years.

As per a complaint lodged by Asha’s father Biranchi Nayak, his wife saw Asha was not in the house in midnight of Thursday. During a search, they saw Asha was burning alive in front of Amit’s house. On being informed by Biranchi, police case and rescued her and took her to the railway hospital from where she was referred to the Ispat General Hospital where she succumbed. Biranchi alleged that Asha was burnt to death by Amit and his parents as she insisted on marrying him.

“We have registered a case and started investigations,” said Bondamunda PS IIC Arpita  Khatua.
