Pro-quota Patidar leader Hardik Patel on Friday said that he would lead a protest against the State Government over its indecision to grant him permission for a venue for his indefinite fast to be initiated on August 25.

Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), the outfit led by Patel has demanded permition for a venue in Ahmedabad over a month ago. Hardik and other PAAS members has planned to go on fast agitation from August 25 to mark the third anniversary of Patel quota stir mega rally held at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad in 2015.

According to Hardik for almost two months the State Government was acting unconstitutionally and failed to provide  a venue to PAAS  to launch protest in the interest of farmers and social justice.  PAAS activists would protest against the state governments  indicision on August 19,2018, at Parking Zone ground in Nikol and set on a token day-long fast onboard vehicle.

Meanwhile the PAAS leader had also met Ahmedabad Police Commissioner A K Singh and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vijay Nehra with a request to grant him official permission to hold his fast in Nikol. He had even enlisted several alternate venues in the area. However, with police and local governing body working on putting traffic system in place due to Gujarat High Court order, had converted many of the vacant land parcels across the city, including the venues sought by Hardik for his fast, in to parking slots.

It is worth mentioning that Patel and his supporters wanted to revive pro-quota agitation in view of upcoming Lok Sabha elections. PAAS is demanding resevation for Patidar community in government jobs as well as educational institutions under OBC category.
