Khordha court main gate locked by lawyers

Tension prevailed at the Khordha Civil and Criminal Court here on Friday after irate members of the District Bar Association locked up the main gate of the court protesting non-fulfilment of their demands.

The lawyers have been staging a protest near the court since last four days demanding fulfilment of their five-point charter of demands. Agitated over the indifference to their demands by the authorities, the protesting lawyers intensified their protests and locked up the court gate thereby affecting the court proceedings, informed sources. Later, the police broke open the lock on the main gate and escorted the Judge into the court. Three platoons of police force have been deployed at the court premises to prevent the situation from worsening further.
