Naidu calls Pinarayi, promises all help

Rescue teams, equipment sent to help Kerala battle rain fury

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu spoke to his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan over the phone on Saturday, and offered all support till normalcy returned to the flood-hit State.

The State government despatched rescue teams and equipment by an IAF aircraft to help Kerala battle the rain fury.

In all, 77 men, including 66 firemen, a district fire officer and an assistant fire officer, five station fire officers, a disaster management officer, a boat mechanic, and a swimming instructor of the A.P. State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department were part of the team.

One team of the NDRF’s 10th battalion also accompanied the State personnel, a release from the A.P. State Disaster Management Authority stated. Twelve inflatable boats, air pumps, floorboards, 100 life jackets and other equipment were also despatched. APSDMA Commissioner M.V. Seshagiri Babu and Fire Services Department Director General K. Satyanarayana were in touch with the officials in Kerala. A.P. had already announced ₹10 crore financial assistance to Kerala.
