HBO gives series order to 'Watchmen'

HBO's first-ever series 'Watchmen" has received a series order.

The series, however, will not be a straight adaption of Alan Moore's graphic novel, previously translated for 2009 film by Zack Snyder.

The studio also unveiled a star-studded cast for the series which includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, and others.

It will be set in an alternate history where "superheroes" are treated as outlaws. The series will embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
