PUNE: A 27-year-old man from
Vimannagar was arrested on Thursday for stalking and harassing a woman employee of a private insurance company.
The 30-year-old woman lodged a complaint on Wednesday, following which the man was taken into custody. An offence was registered against the man under sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-D (stalking) of the Indian
Penal Code.
“The suspect went to the private insurance company a few days ago to enquire about subscribing to an insurance policy. He discussed the details of the policy with the complainant and took her visiting card before leaving,” an officer from the Khadak police station said.
“The suspect then started calling the woman and harassed her by passing lewd comments about her,” the officer said.
Two days ago, the man visited the company’s office again and touched the woman inappropriately. “After the woman resisted the man’s advances, he threatened her. Frustrated, the women approached the police,” the officer added.
Further investigations are under way, the officer said.
