* The Prime Minister is expected to conduct an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas shortly.
* PM chairs a meeting in Kochi with CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Union minister KJ Alphons and other officials.
* "1000s and 1000s are marooned & facing a very severe, critical situation & more emergency evacuation operation is needed. What is being done is appreciable but we need more help from the Centre and other states. Kerala is in distress," said PC Chacko of Congress.
* As many as 93,219 people are staying in the 14362 relief camps in Thrissur district.
* Panic grips residents of Alappuzha town as water levels continue to rise. Over 10,000 people have been staying on the top of the houses without food and medicine in the town.
* Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announced immediate financial help of Rs 25 crore for flood-hit Kerala. Rao also instructed the officials concerned that in view of water getting polluted due to floods water purification RO machines should be dispatched to Kerala. The chief minister also urged the people of his state to help in the rescue operations.
* Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal have also given Rs 10 crore each for the relief works in Kerala.
* To avoid any inconvenience in travelling, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked scheduled domestic airlines to mount additional flights to Kerala after the closure of the Cochin airport.
"Out of 71 arrivals and 74 departures of scheduled domestic airlines to or from Cochin, 23 arrival and 24 departures have been rescheduled and additional 19 arrival and departures have been mounted to or from Trivandrum, Calicut and Coimbatore airports. Nine foreign carriers operating to Cochin have also rescheduled their flights to or from Trivandrum," read a statement from Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
* Around 24,000 people have been shifted to relief camps in the district. The district administration has opened 267 relief camps in four taluks.
According to official figures 6,950 families were moved to relief camps due to flooding and landslides. Another five thousand persons have shifted to their relatives’ houses.
* United Arab Emirates(UAE) to form a committee to help flood-hit areas of Kerala. Sheikh Khalifa has instructed the formation of a national emergency committee to provide assistance to the people affected. "The people of Kerala have always been and are still part of our success story in the UAE. We have a special responsibility to help and support those affected, especially during this holy and blessed days," said vice president of UAE Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
* Expressing concern, UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres said he is saddened by the loss of lives and the destruction due to the
Kerala floods and the world organisation is following the situation very closely," according to his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.
