1,07,920 cusecs of water released into the Godavari

Following the incessant rain since Wednesday night, the authorities of the Sripada Yellampalli Project in Ramagundam mandal have lifted 20 flood gates to release surplus waters of 1,07,920 cusecs into the river Godavari on Thursday.

The SYP is filled to its brim on Thursday. Against the storage capacity of 20.175 tmcs of water, the project was having 19.604 tmcs. The full reservoir level of the project is 148 meters and the water level is at 147.60 tmcs. The project was receiving inflows of 61,808 cusecs from its catchment areas on Thursday evening.

Following the rains, the small rivulets and streams were overflowing in many parts of the district in general and Manthani region in particular. The minor irrigation tanks also started receiving inflows following the rains.

On the other hand, Karimnagar district received a normal rainfall of 38.6 mm rainfall on Thursday. The Karimnagar mandal recorded 49.2 mm rainfall, Thimmapur 47.2 mm, Manakondur 45. 4 mm, Veenavanka mandal 43.3 mm, Jammikunta 43 mm, upland Chigurumamidi recorded 42 mm rainfall. Reports reaching here said that the minor irrigation tanks started receiving inflows following the incessant rains.
