Queensland police officer charged with computer hacking

A detective senior constable from the Brisbane region has been suspended over allegations of releasing confidential information.

Queensland Police said the man was was being investigated "in relation to the access and release of official and confidential information without an official purpose related to the performance of his duties as a member of the Queensland Police Service".

The 30-year-old man was also issued with a Notice to Appear on charges of computer hacking.

He was set to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 11.
