Congress leaders condole demise of 'Great Leader'

Senior Congress leaders in Uttarakhand have expressed grief at the passing away of former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee. Former Chief Minister, current AICC general secretary and CWC member Harish Rawat described him as a beacon of tolerance and human values, adding that his demise was a heart rending fact. Rawat stated, “I will always remember Atal ji and the moments I spent with him in the parliament and on parliamentary committees. He was an inspiration when he was alive and even now that he is not in his physical body, his thoughts and especially his generous sentiments will always continue to inspire us.”

In his condolence message, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh expressed deep grief at Vajpayee’s demise. He said, “He will always be remembered for the services he rendered to the nation during his entire life as a parliamentarian and as the prime minister of the nation. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a great leader and his demise is an irreparable loss for the nation and society,” said the PCC chief.
