Ujjain: 72nd Independence Day celebrations held


Ujjain: The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm on Wednesday. Programmes were organised across the city to commemorate the Independence Day. Main event was organised at Dussehra Maidan where Energy Minister Paras Jain along with Collector Manish Singh and SP Sachin Atulkar were present.

Chief Guest Paras Jain unfurled the Tri-colour. It was followed by singing of the National Anthem. A march past was also held. It was followed by cultural programmes presented by students. Madhya Pradesh Song was also performed. Paras Jain later read out Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s message in which the latter had reiterated his government’s commitment and dedication towards the citizens.

While reading chief minister’s message the minister said that the government was committed to all round development of citizens and was working towards the welfare and overall growth. He also talked about government’s achievements and the areas that require unprecedented level of attention and focus for development.


During the programme the minister also honoured freedom fighters and applauded their contribution in the freedom struggle. Divisional Commissioner MB Ojha, IG Rakesh Gupta, DIG Raman Singh Sirakwar, Jila Panchayat CEO Sandeep GR, municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal along with public representatives and citizens participated in the celebrations.

A function was also held in Government Primary School Hasampura. It was attended by MLA Mohan Yadav, Energy Minister Paras Jain, Zila Panchayat CEO Sandeep GR. The guests interacted with students and informed them about the importance of Independence Day. Guests also enjoyed Mid Day Meal with students and inaugurated the newly-constructed late Digambar Rao Tijare Stadium and gave away awards to winners of MLA trophy 2018.

Likewise the National flag was unfurled at Kothi Palace by Divisional commissioner MB Ojha and Collector Manish Singh. City’s Municipal Corporation organised a programme where in Mayor Menna Jonwal, president Sonu Gehlot, commissioner Pratibha Pal and leader of opposition Rajendra Vashishtha were present.

Mayor Meena Jonwal unfurled the national flag and also read out Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan message for the citizens. Awards were distributed to municipal employees for their performance. MIC members Satyanarayan Chouhan, Mangilal Kadel, Geeta Choudhary, Pawan Kumar Chouhan and other members participated in the celebrations.

At Jan-Abhiyan Parishad office vice-president Pradeep Pandey, divisional coordinator Shiv Prasad Malviya along with several other members attended the unfurling of the Tricolour. In another event around 25 male prisoners of city’s Central Jail were released on the occasion.

‘Swatantrata Parv’ a cultural programme was organised in Kalidas Academy on the eve of Independence Day. Artists presented several cultural and patriotic programmes. Swaraj Sansthan Bhopal and district administration jointly organised the programme. Artist Palak Patwardhan, Mohan Patel, Ramchandra Ganguliya and others performed on the occasion.

City’s women unfurled the National Flag for the first time and recalled the glorious moments of Indian National Movements during which women played a major role in ousting the British regime. City Congress district women president Anju Jatwa hoisted the National Flag at Sindhi Colony square. Several members and citizens were present in the programme.

Likewise 72nd Independence Day celebrated in Krishi Upaj Mandi will full enthusiasm in the presence of President Bahadur Singh Bormundala. During the programme members remembered the freedom fighters. Raghunandan Patidar, Shobharam Malviya, Ashok Chouhan and several other members participated in the event.

Western Railway Ratlam division celebrated 72nd Independence Day under the leadership of railways manager RN Sunkar at divisional office compound. RN Sunkar remembered the freedom fighters and paid tribute to them. He also briefed the role of railways in the national movement.

Independence Day celebrated in educational institutions

Alok International School celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm. Ashok Jagdale was the chief guest and hoisted the National Flag and after that cultural events were presented by the students. Madhya Pradesh secretary Dr Raheshayam Vyas unfurled Tricolour at ‘The Genious Academy School’ Badod, Agar. Students organsied ‘Prabhat Pheri’. Chief Guest Radhu Singh and organisation secretary Ashok Sharma were present in the programme.

KendriyaVidyalaya paid tribute to heroes. Divisional Commissioner M B Ojha, Joint Commissioner Pratik Sonwalkar, Zila panchayat CEO Sandeep GR hoisted the tricolor which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The programmed was presided by Sandeep Poundrik.

Independence Day was celebrated in Government Girls Post Graduation College. Prinicipal Dr Ulka Yadav hoisted the National Flag. Dr Shailendra Parashar and Govind Ram Dapliwale were present as guest. NCC unit performed parade.

Vice-chancellor Professor SS Pandey hoisted the Tricolour at Vikram University. He praised the students for bringing laurels at national and international level. Registrar Dr Parikshit Singh, Proctor Dr Shailendra Parasher, Finance officer SL Malviya along with hundreds of students participated in the celebrations.

Father Jacob Ikkraparambil was the chief guest at Saint Paul School. Likewise Lokmanya Tilak School too  celebrated 72nd Independence Day. Hundreds of students along with school staff were present. Kalidas Montessori School organised a programme in presence of president Manaklal Giriya, Secretary Yashwant Jain along with students and staff members.

Independence Day was celebrated in Government Dhanwantari College in presence of principal Dr JP Chourasiya. National flag was unfurled and freedom fighters were remembered. Several social and political organizations also celebrated the 72nd Independence Day.
