Baripada coop bank depositors on stir path

| | BARIPADA | in Bhubaneswar

Depositors of  the Baripada Urban Cooperative Bank are planning to go on an indefinite strike in protest against the prevailing stalemate in the bank, continuing for the last six years.

They are to begin a sit-in demonstration in front of the bank from August 29 in support of their demand for refund of their money, according to Depositors’ Association leader Bhagvat Chandra Nayak. Though the Bank has adequate financial strength as it has got sufficient money deposited in other nationalised banks and has the potential to revive itself, it is the Government’s indifference which is responsible for the present impasse, the depositors here allege.
