AP: Two workers crushed to death at Gangavaram port

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two employees were crushed to death on Friday while they were supervising loading operations at the Gangavaram port.

According to reports, the duo was killed when a coal heap suddenly slipped and fell on them.

The deceased have been identified as Rama Raju (43), a Gangavaram port employee and a contract employee Mohan (59).

According to sources, both the employees had gone close to the coal heap on the transit area when the accident took place. They were immediately removed from the accident site and sent to KGH in ambulance, but the doctors at the hospital pronounced them dead.

Arrangements were made to release insurances benefits, PF, ESI, gratuity benefits and other compensations as per their eligibility, the GPL management said in a press release.
