Bhopal: 2 booked for duping 70-year-old

Bhopal: Police, on Wednesday, booked Sandeep Khare and Pooja Khare for taking a loan of Rs 31 lakhs by keeping their guarantor 70-year-old Govind Prasad Gupta, in dark about the volume of loan. According to Gupta, Sandeep Khare, a resident of Bawadia Kalan, who claimed himself as a chartered accountant and financial consultant, asked Govind Prasad Gupta for help in getting a loan of Rs 300,000 in 2017.

After Gupta refused him a loan, Khare conned him to be a guarantor for a bank loan. He took Gupta’s signatures on the documents which were prepared in English. Gupta signed the documents blindly as he was not versed with English language.

A few months after completion of bank’s formalities, Gupta received a letter on September 25, 2017 from Punjab National Bank to pay back the loan Rs 31 lakh. He was shocked to learn that the accused used his documents and took a loan of Rs. 31 Lakhs in the name of Pooja Khare.

When Gupta told Khare’s about the notice, he was assured that loan will soon be repaid and the documents of his property will be returned. However consequent to loan default by Khare’s, Gupta decided to approach police. Kolar police registered a case under sections 420 and 34 of IPC against Khare’s and have transferred the case to Baghsewania police.
