CM announces Rs 5 lakh for rescuers of Shivpuri floods

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the rescuers of the 45 persons caught in floods in Shivpuri district will be felicitated.

A sum of Rs 5 lakh each will be given as Samman Nidhi to the rescuers. Chouhan has appealed to the people that the rainwater flows down in great speed from the mountainous regions due to which small drains also start overflowing. Care should be taken while going to such places as life is precious. Chouhan said that he was informed that Indo-Tibetan Border Police, National Disaster Relief Force, State Disaster Relief Force, Army, Madhya Pradesh Police and local citizens extended support in the rescue operation.

He said that he is grateful from the core of his heart for this support. Chouhan told that the Army helped in the rescue of 5 persons by helicopter.

But the rescue operation by helicopter had to be discontinued following bad weather.

Villagers from nearby villages also actively participated in the relief and rescue operation.

The assistance rendered by Ramsevak Prajapti, Kallan Batham, Nizam Khan, Devendra Singh and Balram Bhagirath is noteworthy. They deserve to be praised.

He said that he was told that the search for 6 more persons including Vishal Chouhan, Shrikant Kushwaha, Abhishek Kushwaha, Lokesh Kushwaha, Ravi Kushwaha and Sushil Kushwaha is on.

He said that as soon as the information about the incident was received, efforts for relief and rescue were made after contacting Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman.

The Chief Minister said that till 3 am, he himself kept vigilance of the situation.

It was important to keep up the spirits of those stuck in the floods to ensure that the rescue work was successful.

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and State’s Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia reached the spot and apprised herself with the rescue work.

The Chief Minister said that the accident spot was not a regular tourist spot.

People tend to visit such spots in dense jungle areas for adventure.

 Instructions have been given to be alert so that such incidents are not repeated in future.
