SigTuple, a Bengaluru-based Artificial Intelligence start-up that automates healthcare screening, is the only start-up from India among the 10 start-ups that are selected for Google’s Demo Day Asia.
The 10 start-ups will get a chance to take part in the Demo Day scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China in September.
“We received hundreds of submissions. They came from founders from every corner of Asia–Pacific, across industries as diverse as agriculture, entertainment and healthcare. Out of 305 qualifying applications, as many as 10 start-ups will make it to the Shanghai event,” Michael Kim, Partnerships Manager, Google For Entrepreneurs, has said.
The other finalists include DycodeX from Indonesia (a start-up focusing on IoT for livestock farming), Australia’s FreightExchange (e-platform for freight carriers to sell their unused space to shippers); Japan’s GITAI (a start-up that builds robots to help humans conduct scientific experiments in space) and Pakistan’s Marham (e-healthcare platform).
The start-ups will present their ideas to a panel of leaders from Google for Entrepreneurs, Sequoia Capital China and Venturra Capital on September 20 in Shanghai. “The start-ups that impress could come home with funding from investors and up to $100,000 in Google Cloud Platform credits,” Michael Kim said.
Since 2014, businesses that have pitched at Demo Days have gone on to raise $273 million.
