New block to come up in St. Agnes College

Foundation stone was laid for the Mother Mary Aloysia A.C. Centenary Memorial Block on the St. Agnes College premises here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, recalled the contribution of the St. Agnes Group of Institutions towards development of the city and to the education sector. He said it was because of such educational institutions that the residents have imbibed secular values and the city was known to provide quality education.

Expressing helplessness in giving funds from him for construction of the new block, Mr. Kateel said he would make efforts to get around ₹10 lakh from companies such as MRPL. Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada U.T. Khader said he would also help the institution in building the new block.

Mangaluru Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza led the ceremony related to laying the foundation stone. NITTE (Deemed to be University) Chancellor Vinay Hegde, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Bhaskar K. and Provincial Superior of Apostolic Congregation, Karnataka Province, M. Carmel Rita A.C. participated in the function.
