NEW DELHI: A
22-year-old man was
stabbed five times by his
friend on Wednesday when he asked the latter for
manjha in northeast Delhi’s
Jyoti Nagar. Two people were arrested while one is absconding, police said. The victim is currently battling for life.
Police said that they received a PCR call from one of the neighbours of the victim, who said that his friend was lying in a pool of blood. Soon after this, a police team was sent to the spot and the man was taken to a hospital, where he is being treated.
Police said that the victim, Rohit Kumar, was flying kites with his family members and when he needed more manjha, he went to his friend, Nitin. This angered Nitin (25) and he pushed Kumar towards the grilles on the terrace on the second floor. After this, a scuffle ensued and Nitin asked two of his friends, who were flying kites with him, to get a knife. As he fought Kumar, his friends went downstairs and got a knife, using which they stabbed him five times.
Seeing him bleed, the three accused picked up some cash from their houses and fled, leaving him on the terrace. It was only when a few drops of blood fell on a youth standing below the building that he went and saw Kumar lying in a pool of blood.
DCP (northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur said that a case was registered and a team was formed. He said that after several raids were conducted by the team, two of the accused — Nitin and Monti (28) — were arrested. He added that the third accused is presently absconding and the team is trying to nab him.
Police said that CCTV footage from the spot is also being scanned.
