General public enthusiastically hoisted the Tricolour in their neighbourhood, took out bike rallies

The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated in the city with gusto as government officers announced welfare measures, citizens conducted bike rides and general public hoisted flags in their localities and community centres.

A biker gang led by cycling enthusiasts and defence personnel of armed forces completed a 72 km ride to celebrate the Independence Day. At Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Central Industrial Security Force personnel along with Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting and RAXA security personnel presented the guard of honour to the distinguished guests even as CISF’s sniffer dog squad presented a show that highlighted preparedness for security at the airport. The airport was decked up in tricolour in both domestic and international sections. Apart from government and commercial establishment, Hussain Sagar’s Buddha Statue and Charminar were also decorated with colours of the national flag.

Among the dignitaries who paid homage to the nation were Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan who wished people of twin states progress and prosperity. Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council K. Swamy Goud and Speaker of Legislative Assembly Madhusudana Chary hoisted the national flag in Assembly premises and paid floral tributes to statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation awarded 76 workers for efficiency in service delivery. A ceremony was held in Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation even as Chief Information Commissioner S. Raja Sadaram hoisted the national flag at Samachara Hakku Bhavan. At Vidyut Soudha, CMD of TSGENCO and TSTRANSCO D.Prabhakar Rao said Telangana has become a power stable state. MD of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board M. Dana Kishore said the board will ensure health cards for all its staff.

MD of Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Arvind Kumar hoisted the national flag at TUFIDC premises. Regional Executive Director of NTPC (South) D.K Dubey, unfurled the national flag and said NTPC should work towards become stable and reliable economic power. BHEL-Balanagar celebrated the day with SVN Jithin Sundar (ED, Corporate Research & Development Division) paying respects.

Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy D.R. Doley Barman unfurled the Tricolor and addressed the 106 IPS probationers undergoing their phase-II training in the Academy.

Freedom Fighters Association President Babu Rao Varma hoisted the national flag at Ashoka Pillar at Koti.
