The bad weather has also slowed down the clearing of Xiamen Airline flight MF 8667 that crash-landed on runway 0624 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Philippine Airlines spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said that they expect more cancellation throughout the day in extend na ‘yung runway closure until 4:00 pm.
The aviation authorities have extended the runway closure until 4 p.m. today from 12 noon to give more time for the removal of the aircraft, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Jim Sydiongco.
Villaluna said 5 PAL flights were cancelled as of writing. Two flights that were supposed to land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport were diverted to Clark International Airport.
PAL is also checking ways to provide food, hotel accommodation or transportation to affected passengers. Passengers could also opt for replacement flights, rebooking and refund options, according to Villaluna.
Meanwhile Cebu Pacific, Vice President for Corporate Affairs JR Mantaring said they are currently studying all possible options to help the affected passengers. Mantaring said a total of 10 Cebu Pacific flights were cancelled as of writing. The recovery flights could be launched and some passengers could be accommodated in the next flights, Mantaring said.
