Mumbai: A 40-year-old man has been arrested on Wednesday morning for molesting his 8-year-old daughter in Thane. The incident occurred on January 12, at midnight in their residence at Sawarkar Nagar, Thane. The accused, Prashant Kale (name changed to protect the identity of the victim), was in an inebriated state at the time of the incident when the wife of the accused was not present at their home. The accused had touched the girl inappropriately in her private parts.

Later, in June, the victim lost her mother, after which she started staying with her aunt at Thane. Since Kale had threatened to kill the victim if she disclosed the incident to anyone, the girl was petrified to open up to her family members. On Tuesday, the victim narrated her ordeal to her aunt. They approached the Vartak Nagar police on Tuesday evening and registered an FIR.

“Based on the medical reports and investigations, the accused has been arrested on Wednesday from his residence. He has been sent to judicial custody,” police said.
