Akshay Kumar had a great Independence Day. The actor’s latest film, sports drama Gold, earned him his best opening day at the box office and has received largely positive reviews from critics. Akshay’s Bollywood colleagues have also chimed in with their reactions.

On Thursday, Bollywood personalities such as Karan Johar, Diana Penty, Sonakshi Sinha, Angad Bedi and others tweeted messages of appreciation.

“The performances of #gold are on point!!! @akshaykumar has a solid sincerity that makes his TAPAN an applause worthy character ! Kudos to the ensemble for their brilliance! Kunal! Vineet! Amit! Sunny! Mouni! All super!” wrote Karan Johar.

Angad Bedi, who recently appeared in another hockey film, Soorma, praised the film’s last half. “#Gold last half an hour is just awesome!! @akshaykumar sir as tapan Das wins you over..spectacular performance. @TheAmitSadh @kapoorkkunal @sunnykaushal89 own the film with their brilliance. @Roymouni great job done. Loved the chemistry. #GharLayengeGold,” Angad wrote.

Although Akshay’s former co-star Sonakshi Sinha hasn’t seen the film yet, she wrote that she’s ‘hearing such amazing things about’ the film.

Vicky Kaushal wrote that he ‘laughed, hooted, clapped, cried’. “Stunning film in every department. Many congratulations to the entire team of #Gold for such an amazing film,” he wrote in a tweet.

Akshay thanked each of them individually on Twitter. The actor, along with Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and others, had put on a powerful marketing drive ahead of the film’s release.

Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, clashed at the box office with John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate. Gold earned Rs 25 crore while Satyameva Jayate made Rs 20 crore.
