The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchi Complex, has fast-tracked technology development in advanced areas and gives a thrust to manufacture of nuclear power generation equipment, its Executive Director R.Rajamanohar said on Wednesday.
“New business opportunities through technology development in the areas of advanced ultra super critical boiler and production of methanol from coal technologies are being pursued and major impetus is being given to nuclear power generation equipment manufacturing,” he said in his Independence Day address.
He stressed that Tiruchi complex needs to maintain leadership position in the power sector for the boiler segment and increase the market share in the areas of emission control systems and spares and services segment. The complex was re-organising and re-deploying its resources in line with the corporate strategic plan to increase the current share of non-coal business from 30% to 50% in the next five years by following the ‘Nine elements of executing vision’ envisaged by the company management.
The Tiruchi unit has been fully supporting all the schemes and new initiatives of the government including Make in India, cashless economy, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Skill development. Action plans have been put in place to make the campus of BHEL, Tiruchi, a plastic-free zone to meet the Tamil Nadu government’s call for ban on disposable plastic across the state.
Stating that BHEL,Tiruchi, would continue its contribution towards education, basic amenities and skill development of under-privileged members of society under its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes, he said that Arivalayam, a special school and rehabilitation centre for children with special needs in the campus has been selected for Tamil Nadu government’s State award for the best institution for differently abled this year.
Earlier, Mr Rajamanohar took the salute and inspected a guard of honour by BHEL Tiruchi Security personnel, NCC, Home Guards, Traffic Wardens, Fire Services and campus school contingents.
