Four days after a 12-year-old boy was found hanging from the door handle of his house in Khoda, police on Thursday said the postmortem report has stated that the possibility of ‘homicidal hanging’ cannot be ruled out. Police said on the basis of the post mortem findings, they are probing the role of any suspect who could have given way to the incident.

“An autopsy was conducted at a hospital in Delhi. Doctors have said that the possibility of homicidal hanging cannot be ruled out. Besides, the report states that the hyoid bone — which generally breaks on normal hanging — was not found broken. This raised our suspicion about a possible involvement of outsiders,” said Ravi Kumar, assistant superintendent of police (Indirapuram).

In a case of homicide by hanging, a person is rendered senseless and then hanged to simulate suicidal death.

Victim Sunny’s father had gone for work and his mother and sister were not at home when the incident took place, police said. He was later found in a sitting position with a duppata tied around his throat, and that was tied to the door handle. Following the discovery, the victim’s family had lodged a case of murder.

Police sources said that they are questioning three boys – who had allegedly snatched away Sunny’s watch prior to the incident —to find out if any of them were present at the scene of the crime. They added that one of the boys is under scanner and investigation is likely to crack the case soon.“Details are being gathered from the boys who had a fight with the victim. The case will be cracked soon,” said Vaibhav Krishna, senior superintendent of police.
