Apple MacBook Air 2018 may launch with 2018 iPhones next month

It has been slightly over a year ever since Apple updated its MacBook Air line-up. Last year in June, the Cupertino-based tech firm gave a minor spec bump to its ‘Air’ laptop by simply increasing the clock speed of the processor from 1.6GHz to 1.8GHz. Rest of the specifications stayed the same as the 2015 model. The design also remains the same for now. But it looks like another update is coming to the MacBook Air line up this year.
According to TrendForce analytics website, Apple could launch a refreshed version of MacBook Air in Q3 2018. This basically means July, August and September and since we are already through July and half of August, we’re just left with a month and a half window, if the report from TrendForce holds any weight.
“The second quarter was the transition period when Apple was preparing for the releases of the upcoming new MacBook devices for the year. TrendForce, therefore, expects MacBook shipments to again post a large QoQ increase in 3Q18, as Apple will be releasing a new MacBook Pro at the start of the quarter and a new MacBook Air at the end of the quarter,” said the Taiwanese firm in the latest market report.
We are yet to see if Apple really launches the ‘new’ MacBook Air or not. However, as the rumoured time frame comes close more reports have popped up, indicating the launch of a budget Apple laptop in the lineup, which in this case could very well be the MacBook Air.
In July, Apple introduced two new MacBook Pro models in 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes. Starting at Rs 1,49,900 and Rs 1,99,900 respectively, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar and 15-inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar feature 8th-generation Intel Core processors and an upgraded keyboard mechanism to keep the dust and debris at bay.
